O Financial Times apontou como um dos pontos principais para a compra da Beats Electronics, o serviço de streaming de música, Beats Music, que há alguns meses está ganhando terreno contra os concorrentes Spotify e Pandora, nos Estados Unidos. Assim, a gigante de Cupertino teria a intenção de melhorar e fortalecer a experiência do usuário no iTunes Radio, que apesar de ser um serviço bastante popular, parece não ter decolado como a Apple gostaria.
Para aqueles que não conhecem o Beats Music, se trata de um serviço de rádio que oferece streaming de músicas em alta qualidade e de graça, mas que só está disponível nos Estados Unidos e uma lista muito reduzida de países, competindo inclusive com o iTunes Radio, mas com diferenciais no design e funcionalidades. A compra, claro, também leva para a Apple os conhecimentos que levaram ao desenvolvimento dos famosos fones de ouvido da marca.
