Após três anos sem reajustes no valor da assinatura, a Netflix norte-americana subiu para US$ 9 dólares o preço da mensalidade para os novos assinantes, um aumento de US$ 1 dólar sobre o valor anterior.
A Netflix é o principal serviço de TV por Internet do mundo, com mais de 37 milhões assinantes em 40 países assistindo a mais de um bilhão de horas de filmes, séries de TV e produções originais por mês.
Por um preço mensal baixo, o assinante Netflix pode assistir a quantos filmes e séries quiser, quando e onde quiser, em praticamente qualquer tela com conexão à Internet. O assinante pode assistir, pausar e voltar a assistir a um título sem comerciais e sem compromisso.
Com o aumento de 12,5%, a empresa agora permite que seus usuários acessem dois streams de vídeo ao mesmo tempo, em diferentes aparelhos.
O último aumento foi em 2011, quando a empresa sofreu represaria de seus assinantes e perdeu uma grande porcentagem de usuários. Como a procura pela assinatura aumentou desde então, a empresa aproveitou a crescente demanda para reajustar o valor.
Não foi revelado se o Brasil também sofrerá um reajuste.
