A novidade permite que endereços da web usem terminações diferentes do conhecido “.com”
Até que enfim domínios personalizados chegaram ao Brasil. “Globo Comunicações e Participações S.A” oficializou acordo com a ICANN, órgão regulador de endereços na web, a alteração do “.com.br” para “.globo“.
O “.com”, também conhecido como: generic top-level domain (gTLD), é um recurso estético interessante para as grandes marcas, porém não é só isso que o torna importante. Não é todo mundo que consegue aprovação do ICANN para personalizar o top-level domain isso deixa os sites mais seguros confiáveis, ou seja, a medida ajuda na prevenção de fraudes.
A Rede Globo foi a primeira a ter personalizar seu “.com” no Brasil, mas não foi pioneira no mundo. Desde de outubro, cerca de 250 outras empresas já alteraram os gTLD dos sites. Super metrópolis como Paris e Nova York conseguiram a façanha há 6 meses.
Na verdade são muitas empresas que demonstraram interesse em personalizar o gTLD. Cerca de 1930 enviaram solicitações ao órgão regulador desde de meados de 2013. Além da Rede Globo, a empresa de cosméticos Natura e a Telefônica Vivo também esperam aprovação do ICANN.
