O Xperia Z Ultra , celular gigante da Sony com tela de 6,44 polegadas, lançado em 2013, ganhou uma versão Wi-Fi. Apresentado como smartphone, o aparelho, agora, também se tornou um tablet. Sua câmera traseira tem 8,1 megapixels e a frontal conta com 2,2 megapixels. A única diferença fica por conta da ausência da possibilidade de conexão às redes móveis. O objetivo da Sony com o aparelho é criar uma opção ultraportátil de tablet para quem precisa de um aparelho robusto nas especificações técnicas, mas com as dimensões não tão grandes. Ele pode concorrer, por exemplo, com tablets de sete polegadas com Android, que fazem bastante sucesso atualmente. No entanto, ainda não há nenhuma confirmação sobre a internacionalização deste novo modelo do Xperia Z Ultra.
